Introduction of fiber demister :
The fiber demister also known as a fiber mist eliminator or fiber bed filter, is a device used to remove fine liquid droplets or mist from a gas stream. It plays a crucial role in separating entrained liquids from process gases in a variety of industries.
The fiber demister consists of two concentric screens or parallel flat screens filled with compressed fiber pads.
Fiber demister are individually designed and manufactured with enclosures made of a variety of alloys, thermoformed plastics or fiberglass reinforced plastics. The compressed fiber bed is made of special glass, ceramic, polypropylene, teflon or polyester. Fiber Bed Construction:
Fiber demisters utilize a packed bed of fine, randomly oriented fibers, typically made from materials like glass, metal, or polymers.
The tortuous flow path through the fiber bed enables efficient droplet capture and coalescence.
Droplet Removal Mechanism:
As the gas stream passes through the fiber bed, liquid droplets collide with the fibers and coalesce into larger droplets.
Gravity and inertial forces then cause the coalesced droplets to separate from the gas flow.
Structure of fiber demister :
The typical fiber demister is composed of tubular fiber bed element (size is customized according to the working condition), bracket, flange, outer cover pressure vessel and other components.
Classification of fiber demister :
According to the trapping mechanism of fiber demister, fiber demister can be divided into low-speed type and high-speed type.
The low-speed fiber demister is an efficient fiber demister based on Brown diffusion trapping, which is characterized by low gas velocity, between 0.08 and 0.2m/s, and is used to trap fog particles with an average of less than 1μm, and the trapping efficiency is between 94% and 99.7%. For fog particles larger than 3μm, the capture efficiency is 100%.
